Dam Upgrade

The Woodbridge Lake dam is under a consent order issued by the Safe Dams Program of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. Revised plans to comply with the consent order were sent to Safe Dams in February 2009. We are waiting on their further comments or final approval. The project is pending.

The revised plans included:

raising the height of the dam by 18" to 20,"
building a concrete break wall (below grade) in the emergency spillway,
re-lining and grouting the primary spillway and re-work the plunge pool,
removing and replacing the plastic pipe siphon with one constructed of ductile iron and concrete reinforced joints, and
installing devices (piezometers and weeping drains) that will measure the amount of water seeping thru the dam.

The Association has implemented a quarterly self-inspection program and an inspection by a licensed engineer every other year. Reports are being provided to Safe Dams of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
