Lake

The lake is the major feature of our neighborhood and a source of pride to all the community. The dam is maintained so as to comply with the rules governing a Category I (a high hazard) dam as set forth by the Georgia Safe Dams Act of 1978 (O.C.G.A. 12-5-370 – 12-5-385). It is inspected each year by the Safe Dams Program of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The VP Lake & Dam is responsible for the general management of the lake and dam, including dam maintenance, fish and wildlife management, and weed and siltation control. In order to accomplish this and in order to maintain the lake as an asset to the community, it has been necessary to establish certain rules (see Lake Rules) which must be enforced. The lake has a permanent siphoning system. This allows us to lower the lake level in December and January for cleaning, weed control, and maintenance.

Woodbridge Lake may become temporarily polluted after heavy rains or sewer line failure. For this reason no swimming is allowed.  When you hear the pump station alarm sound, immediately report the alarm to the Columbia County Water Treatment Plant.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is empowered to, and responsible for enforcing the Georgia Sport Fishing Regulations, including trespass and poaching on the Woodbridge Lake.   Please report unauthorized people using the lake to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources or the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. Alertness on the part of all the residents will discourage trespassing and vandalism.

Keys to the lock securing the launch area may be obtained from the Vice President for Lake & Dam.
